right now I listen to most of my music through this:

Sony SCD-CE595 5-disc CD changer --> Sony STR-DG500 amplifier --> KLH Model 24s

soon I'll be trying out a Yamaha CR-620 in place of the STR-DG500. I am expecting it to sound awesome.

just did a major upgrade of my stereo system. still using foobar2000 as my music player on my desktop... through:

coaxial rca digital out from motherboard
audience au24 directional rca
assemblage dac
rocketfish rcas
accuphase e-202 integrated amp
some moderately priced speaker cable
era design 5 monitors

all filtered with a blue circle bc86 power line pillow and a blue circle mr1200 power cleaner.

I'm gonna take some pics tonight. I'm really, really happy with it so far.

I used to just have 3.5mm stereo out (from ac97 onboard audio) to a b&w zeppelin

mine is all spread out, the pc is in a closet, dac sits just outside, amp is on a table (power cleaner/filter under that), speakers on opposite sides of the room so i get some imaging

what is a "coaxial rca digital out" connection? is that an s/pdif output of the rca-connector variety?

sadly my dac will only accept a maximum of 20-bit, 48kHz data, so the 24-bit 96kHz vinyl rips I've picked up must be downsampled. :(

moved my room around a little bit and I just did a run of speaker wire across my room. nothing new to the setup really, other than a 1/8" headphone to RCA audio adapter so I can hook my iPod or laptop into the amp. crucial for stuff I don't have on CD. I need to get a switch so I can have the CD changer and laptop plugged into the aux jacks at the same time.

oh, and I need a record player too.

the primary reason for updating this thread is hearing my speakers for the first time in a week or so and loving it so much.

I have a record player you can have. You would have to buy a needle, though. And possibly paint it...

All I can remember about it (it was a gift) is that it's yellow. And possibly covered in flowers. I'll take pics next time I'm home :P

I think I may even have the little plastic adaptor that lets you play 45s, if you have any

i'm buying a pair of krk monitors next week. i'll put it on my credit card and keep it there; i don't care. everyday i play music using my laptop speakers, and i can't stand it anymore.

(2) krk rpg52 5" 75w active monitor ($300)

i don't know what to do about a dac. i guess i'll just use my laptop's sound card for now. :|

bhphotovideo.com is selling the krk rpg52 for $120 each with free shipping! as soon as they come in stock, i'm going to get a pair for $240. :D

i don't know which to do:

(a) buy the pair from a reputable dealer like b&h for $240.

(b) buy the pair from this place and get free cables and stands for $300.

If you'll use the stands, spend the $300
If you already question whether or not you'll use the stands, go with b&h
